Mission Statement
The association is dedicated to promoting Chinese culture, to enhancing studies and research in library and information sciences, and expediting the development and advancement of the profession through the joint efforts of library professionals.

Organizational Background/Description
In June 1925 the Library Association of China was founded in Peiping, China.  The Association was reorganized in Taipei in November 1953.  Up to December of 1997, the Association membership consisted of 1,790 librarians and other information professionals in 482 libraries and institutions. Information Literacy Goals, Areas of Interest, Publications, Standards, etc. The Association has the following objective: to promulgate professional education and training of librarianship and information science, to advocate ethics in professional practice, to strengthen the establishment of library and information networks, to improve the communication and cooperation among libraries and academic institutes both in the Republic of China and abroad, to promote the development and utilization of library resources, and to promote the reading interests of the general public.
