Mission Statement
CIC is an association of independent colleges and universities working together to:

  • support college leadership
  • advance institutional excellence
  • enhance private higher education's contributions to society.
To fulfill its mission, CIC provides ideas, resources, and services that assist institutions in improving leadership expertise, educational programs, administrative and financial performance, and institutional visibility.

Organizational Background/Description
Independent, 4-year liberal arts colleges and universities.  Conducts programs and projects on curriculum development, management practices, student development, and related subjects.  Consortium for the Advancement of Private Higher Education (CAPHE) operating unit conducts competitive grants programs for private colleges.  Operates national public information campaign on behalf of the nation’s small independent colleges.
