Mission Statement
The IPSL is committed to advancing learning that combines formal study with service to the local community in another country so students can achieve learning that is deeper and more meaningful than the learning achieved in traditional academic courses.

Organizational Background/Description
The International Partnership for Service-Learning has originated, designed and implemented international/intercultural service-learning since 1982 at eleven different sites around the world. International Partnership programs unite academic study and community service, so that the service makes the study immediate and relevant, and the study relates to and supports the service.

Information Literacy Goals, Areas of Interest, Publications, Standards, Etc.

Through its programs in 11 different countries, the IPSL has provided more than 4,000 students with learning that can be characterized as self-reliant, deep, and transformative. Working among community people, especially in "third world" settings, IPSL students bring classroom lessons to life and life's lessons into the classroom. The IPSL is convinced that the combination of international service, academic study and reflection contributes to the development of information literacy skills/values in today's college student.
