Mission Statement
NSBA’s mission is to foster equity and excellence in public elementary and secondary
education in the United States through school board leadership. As part of that mission,
ITTE helps to advance the wise use of technology in public education.
Organizational Background/Description
NSBA is the nationwide advocacy and outreach organization for public school
governance. It carries out its mission through a united effort with state school boards
associations who are its Federation Members. For education leaders of all titles, ITTE
sponsors meetings and the annual Technology + Learning Conference and publishes books,
Electronic School magazine, and Technology Leadership News newsletter. Its Leadership
Network includes over 400 school districts in the U.S., Canada, and England.
Information Literacy Goals, Areas of Interest, Publications, Standards, etc.
ITTE recognizes the effective application of technology as an essential component to making
schools more productive and to enabling teachers and students to access and use information
appropriately. To encourage well-conceived planning and implementation of technology in
schools, it helps education leaders and technology experts network and share their experiences
and insights through meetings, its Technology + Learning Conference, and publications.
Recent book titles include Investing in School Technology: Strategies to Meet the Funding
Challenge, School Leader’s Version; Leadership & Technology: What School Board
Members Need to Know; and Plans & Policies for Technology in Education: A Compendium.
Tables of contents are available at the ITTE Web site. ITTE and NSBA also inform
education policy makers about schools’ needs for technology.
