Mission Statement

To advance the leadership role of our members in putting knowledge to work for the benefit of decision-makers in corporations, government, the professions, and society; as well as to shape the destiny of our information and knowledge-based society.

Organizational Background/Description

International association of information professionals who work in special libraries serving business, research, government, universities, newspapers, museums, and institutions that use or produce specialized information.  Seeks to advance the leadership role of special librarians.  Offers consulting services to organizations that wish to establish or expand a library or information services.  Conducts continuing education courses, public relations, and government relations programs.  Provides employment services.  Operates Information Resources Center on topics pertaining to the development and management of special libraries.  Maintains Hall of Fame.
